Nothing warms you up better on a cold morning than a creamy, rich glass of hot chocolate. Topped with marshmallows or whipped cream, of course.

My husband and I love good hot chocolate. We love it so much we served it at our wedding. Our little one isn’t drinking hot chocolate yet, so it’s just the two of us. We came up with a single serving that can easily be doubled for two.
HOW TO MAKE SINGLE SERVING HOT CHOCOLATE
This recipe is so easy, delicious, and fast. You’ll be drinking your hot chocolate in about five minutes.
- Measure the milk, so it’s ready to pour into the chocolate syrup when it is ready. In a small saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Add hot water and whisk together over medium heat and bring to a boil. Boil and continuously stir for about a minute and a half.
- While stirring, pour milk into chocolate syrup. Add chocolate chips and continue to stir until melted. Heat to desired temperature. Do NOT boil.
- Once the hot chocolate reaches your desired temperature, remove from heat and add a splash of vanilla, stir. Pour into a mug and top with mini marshmallows or whipped cream.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED
- Small saucepan: I have one similar to this one.
- Liquid measuring cup: I love my Pyrex measuring cup, which you can find here.
- Measuring spoons: I use and love this set.
- Mug
